Apple Valley Motorcyclist Airlifted After Crash

Just three days into Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, an Apple Valley motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash. The motorcycle crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Central Road and Powhatan Road. Police say the crash involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Honda sedan. It appears the motorcyclist was headed south on Central Road when he was struck by the Honda as it attempted a lefthand turn onto Central from Powhatan.

The Apple Valley motorcyclist had to be airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center for injuries including a broken leg. The Honda driver did not suffer injuries. He remained on the scene to cooperate with the investigation. Police continue to investigate the crash, but they do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors.

More Motorcyclists Take to the Roads

With warm weather in full force in the desert, Victor Valley roadways are seeing an increase in motorcycle traffic. Unfortunately, this often triggers an increase in motorcycle accidents. Just two days prior to this motorcycle crash, two motorcyclists were struck by a drugged driver in Victorville. The driver fled the scene, but police located and arrested him later that day.
