Avoid Post-Holiday Traffic in the Coachella Valley
Avoid Post-Holiday Traffic in the Coachella Valley

With Christmas over, locals can expect some serious post-holiday traffic on I-10. Traffic conditions on Tuesday are likely to be similar to what we experienced at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend.

If possible, your best bet is to avoid the freeway for most of the day. Traffic is usually the worst near the San Gorgonio Pass. Conditions will likely be bumper-to-bumper from about noon Tuesday until well into the evening.

Alternate Routes

If you are traveling in the area, try to stick to side streets all of Tuesday to avoid post-holiday traffic. Alternatives to the freeway include:

  • Highway 111
  • Varner Road
  • Dinah Shore Drive (between Palm Springs and Palm Desert only)
  • Country Club Drive (between Rancho Mirage and Bermuda Dunes only)
  • Gerald Ford Drive (between Cathedral City and Palm Desert Only
  • Fred Waring Drive (between Indio and Palm Desert only)

Also remember that Tuesday is a high traffic day for retail shops, as many people will be returning gifts. Unless your shopping needs are urgent, you might want to hold off on handling your returns until later in the week.

“We hope everyone had a joyful and safe Christmas holiday. Please use caution when traveling today and avoid high traffic areas if you can,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
