No one was hurt in a big rig crash that shut down eastbound I-10 in Cabazon Tuesday morning. Two big rigs were involved in the crash that occurred at 2:46 a.m. east of Apache Trail. One of the trucks was slowing down to get over onto the shoulder due to a mechanical issue when it was struck by a second truck. One of the trucks jackknifed on the freeway, blocking all the eastbound lanes.
Police issued a Sig Alert at 3:25 a.m. Drivers were slowly getting around the crash site via the center shoulder, and traffic was backed up a mile and a half until lanes reopened around 7 a.m.
Fuel was leaking from one of the big rigs, and one of the big rigs had to be removed by tow trucks.
“Big rig crashes are a frequent cause of traffic delays in our area, and unfortunately they often result in injuries or fatalities. We’re thankful that no one was hurt in this accident,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
