Police are investigating a fatal Bear Valley Road collision that occurred Wednesday night in Apple Valley. Matthew Marshall, a 58-year-old Apple Valley man, has been identified as the driver killed in the car accident.
According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials, Marshall was driving a Kia Sephia near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Algonquin Road when he was struck head-on by a Chevrolet Cruz. Police say the Chevy driver was traveling east on Bear Valley when she attempted to turn left onto Algonquin. She then crashed into Marshall’s vehicle around 8:20 p.m.
Marshall was trapped inside his vehicle until firefighters extricated him. He was then airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital. He passed away from his injuries a short time later. The driver of the Chevy, a 20-year-old Adelanto woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries. She and her three passengers were hospitalized after the crash.
