A child was rescued from a near drowning in Palm Desert Tuesday afternoon. Family members found the boy at the bottom of the pool and called for emergency responders. A family member pulled the boy from the pool. Riverside County Fire officials responded to the home at 2:26 p.m.
The incident occurred in the 76000 block of Florida Avenue. Firefighters said the boy sustained moderate injuries but was stable. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment.
Awareness can Prevent Drownings
It only takes a few minutes for a drowning to occur. According to a Consumer Product Safety Commission study, 77% of drowning victims are only out of sight from an adult for 5 minutes or less. Due to the fast, silent nature of drowning, parents need to stay alert at all times to protect their children. “Thank God the family found this child before it was too late. Parents, please be vigilant in watching your children any time you are around a pool,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
