Contigo Recall Goes Into Effect

In August, 2019, Contigo announced a recall on well over 5 million kids water bottles due to a choking hazard inherent in the design. Nearly six months later, a second recall has been announced on the replacement water bottles sent to consumers. Surprisingly, this recall is also occurring due to choking hazards present in the design. According to the company and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the detachable spout included in the design can pose an immediate risk to children using the bottle.

Product Recall Information You Should Know

Contigo has made it clear that only bottles featuring a black spout base and black spout cover are being affected by the recall. For those who currently own one of the recalled bottles, Contigo recommends immediately taking it away from children and returning it to the company for a free replacement. So far, 427 reports have been filed involving the detaching spouts. Within these reports, 27 cases have been documented in which the spouts were found in a child’s mouth.

As always, safety should be your first priority when dealing with product recalls. If you have any questions about this Contigo recall, you can contact representatives from the company here.
