Dog Killed, Woman Injured in Palm Springs Crash

A woman and her dog were both struck by a vehicle in Palm Springs Tuesday night. The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. However, the dog suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The accident occurred along the 400 block of South Sunrise Road around 7:50 p.m.

According to Palm Springs Police, the woman was not in a crosswalk while she was crossing the street with her dog. The driver stopped after the accident and has been cooperating with the crash investigation. Furthermore, police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

What is Causing Rise in Pedestrian Crashes?

Pedestrian accidents have been on the rise in recent years, even as other types of traffic fatalities have decreased. Distracted driving is a possible contributor to the increase in fatal pedestrian accidents. However, there are many other factors that might also be to blame for the rise in pedestrian fatalities—such as an increase in foot traffic in urban areas, and an increase in vehicles on U.S. roadways.

“Our thoughts are with the pedestrian who is recovering from this accident,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
