Driver Killed in Highway 111 Rollover Crash

The driver of a vehicle that rolled over on Highway 111 Monday afternoon passed away at the scene. Officials have identified the driver as 60-year-old Randy Bergstrom of Tacoma, Washington.

Driver was Not Wearing a Seatbelt

The rollover crash occurred on southbound Highway 111 near Overture Drive around 3:20 p.m. According to Palm Springs police, Bergstrom lost control of his Chevrolet Malibu, and the vehicle overturned multiple times. Bergstrom, the vehicle’s solo occupant, was ejected during the crash. Police confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt.

A doctor had pulled over at the scene and was performing CPR on Bergstrom when police arrived. Bergstrom was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. Officers closed lanes in both inbound and outbound Highway 111 for several hours. The crash remains under investigation.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones. We know that seatbelts save lives—in cases where vehicles roll over, they can keep occupants from being ejected. Avoid a tragedy and wear your seatbelt every time  you get into a vehicle,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
