Frozen Hash Browns Recalled for Golf Ball Contamination

If your hash browns have been tasting a little chewy, it may be because, as the Food and Drug Administration website says, the hash browns could be contaminated with extraneous golf ball materials.

How could this happen?

Was the Vice President of Operations practicing his putting in the plant? Actually, golf balls hit into a potato field adjacent to a golf course resulted in inadvertent harvesting of potatoes and golf balls. Consumers are warned that, “consumption of these products may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury to the mouth.” No kidding! The contaminated products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase or used for putting practice.

The hash browns were recalled by McCain Foods USA. They were 2 pound bags sold under the Harris Teeter and Roundy’s brands. The production code on the packaging of the potentially contaminated hash browns is B170119.
