Hit-and-Run Driver Who Struck Two Motorcyclists Arrested

Police arrested a drugged driver who struck two motorcyclists and fled the scene Tuesday. Police say 24-year-old Austin Williams ran a red light, then crashed into two motorcyclists at an intersection. The crash occurred around 10 a.m. at Washington Street and Highway 111. The driver then fled the scene.

One of the motorcyclists suffered moderate injuries. Consequently, paramedics transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. Fortunately, the other motorcyclist did not sustain injuries in the crash.

Driver Who Struck Two Motorcyclists Was Under the Influence

Police arrested the driver who struck two motorcyclists at his Palm Desert home later in the day. He faces charges for driving under the influence of drugs and felony hit-and-run. He is being held at Riverside County Jail in Indio.

“May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, meaning the California Highway Patrol and other safety agencies will be focused on promoting safe driving habits for motorcyclists. Drivers need to focus on sharing the roads, and remember to always check twice for motorcyclists,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
