IKEA Beach Chair Recall Issued After Amputation Incidents

IKEA has issued a beach chair recall affecting more than 33,000 foldable chairs. The recall addresses a safety hazard that can lead to finger injuries, including finger amputations. The company has received 13 reports of incidents, 10 of which included injuries from the beach chairs. Furthermore, six of those injuries resulted in fingertip amputations.

According to IKEA, customers can reassemble the chairs incorrectly, which increases the risk of falls or finger amputation hazards. The chairs affected are MYSINGSÖ beach chairs purchased between February 2013 and December 2016. Customers who own the recalled chairs can return them to any IKEA store for a replacement or refund.

Beach Chair Recall Follows Other IKEA Recalls

IKEA recently settled a lawsuit with three families whose children died after dressers tipped over onto them. Last year, IKEA recalled its Malm chests and drawers due to the tipping hazard.

“Be sure to get your chair replaced if you own one of these defective products,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
