Lost Hiker Found After 3 Day Search
Lost Hiker Found After 3 Day Search

A lost hiker was found after he was missing for three days at Indian Canyons Trail. Roger Dannen, 75, of Oregon went missing while hiking with a friend last Wednesday. A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter spotted Dannen around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Dannen had suffered some minor injuries, but overall he was doing okay. Officials say he had run out of food and water, but he’d had quite a bit to start with. He was dehydrated and had started hallucinating before he was rescued. Police say he was an experienced hiker.

Hiker Slides Down Cliff and Suffers Injuries

Dannen and a friend began their hike on a remote part of Indian Canyons Trail Wednesday around 8 a.m. Dannen slipped on snow and slid down a cliff. The fall injured his feet and legs, and his companion was unable to find him. His friend continued to communicate with him and search for him until their communication cut off.

He reported Dannen missing Wednesday evening. Palm Springs police, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol all assisted with the search. By Friday, police had upgraded the search to a critical missing person’s case.

“We’re so glad to hear that this lost hiker was rescued and is doing well,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
