Major Injuries in Highway Crash

Two people were seriously injured in a head-on crash on Highway 395 just after midnight Saturday. A northbound Acura SUV and a southbound Nissan sedan collided around 12:06 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Officials say the driver of the Acura, a 32-year-old Tustin woman, attempted to pass vehicles in front of her by entering the southbound lane. She then crashed head-on into the Nissan SUV, driven by a 38-year-old man.

The Nissan driver and his passenger, a 27-year-old woman, were rushed to the hospital with major injuries. The Acura driver sustained minor injuries in the crash. The CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. However, they did state that the Acura driver was unable to merge back into the northbound lane in time due to unsafe driving.

“While head-on collisions account for only about 2% of crashes, they are some of the most deadly accidents. Our thoughts are with the victims who were seriously injured in this head-on crash,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
