NHTSA Investigates Ford Fusion Steering Wheel Defect

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating 2014-2016 model year Ford Fusion sedans for a steering wheel defect. The investigation was launched after the NHTSA received three complaints about the steering wheel coming loose. One driver reported the steering wheel detached while the vehicle was in motion.

The safety organization is investigating roughly 841,000 Ford Fusions to better understand the problem and determine whether or not a recall is necessary. So far, there have been no reports of accidents or injuries resulting from the possible defect.

Report Vehicle Defects to the NHTSA

If you have one of these vehicles and have experienced a similar issue, you can file a complaint at safercar.gov. You will then be notified if there is a recall for the defect.

“A steering wheel that can detach is obviously a serious safety issue for drivers. If you own one of these vehicles, be sure to be on the lookout for a possible recall notice,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
