Palm Springs Crash Causes Downed Power Lines
Palm Springs Crash Causes Downed Power Lines

A multi-vehicle crash on Thursday in Palm Springs caused down power lines and major traffic delays. The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Arenas Road and Belardo Road. Police say the crash involved at least two vehicles.

One of the vehicles involved was parked along Arenas Road when a second vehicle struck it. It is unclear whether any other vehicles were also involved in the crash. The impact then caused a power pole to snap nearly in half, and power lines fell into nearby trees.

Downed Power Lines Cause Traffic Delays

Police closed off a stretch of Arenas Road while power crews repaired the downed power lines. The owner of the parked vehicle told news reporters that he was at work at a nearby office when the accident occurred. He was unable to get to his car, as police were keeping pedestrians away from the downed power lines until the repair was completed. Tow trucks eventually came to remove the damaged vehicles.

Drivers were encouraged to steer clear of the area to avoid the downed power lines. This closure, coupled with a closure on Palm Canyon Drive due to Village Fest, caused significant downtown traffic delays.

“Downed power lines can be very dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Here are some tips if you are ever in a crash involving power lines,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
