Should Parents be Concerned about Bounce House Accidents?

Danger probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you think of a children’s bounce house. However, certain circumstances when bounce houses are in use can lead to serious accidents.

Unfortunately, a bounce house in Fort Lauderdale was the site of an injury for a 6-year-old girl on Memorial Day 2015. A waterspout came ashore and sent the inflatable flying down the beach, injuring Shamoya Ferguson and two other children. The accident sent all three children to the hospital.

Bounce Houses Unsafe During Windy Weather

Although Ferguson made it out of the incident mostly unscathed, this accident is a warning to parents. Something as innocent as a child’s bounce house has the potential to be dangerous under the wrong circumstances. Parents should be cautious of factors like adverse weather when allowing children to play in bounce houses.

“Most of the time, your children are going to be just fine in a bounce house. However, if anything concerns you, such as windy weather or too many older children crowding it, trust your instincts and keep your child safe,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
