Parents Killed, 2 Kids Injured in Fatal I-15 Rollover Crash

A fatal I-15 rollover crash on Monday morning injured two teenagers and took the lives of their parents. The accident occurred on northbound I-15 north of Minneola Road around 6:30 a.m. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials, an Audi in the No. 1 lane attempted a lane change and crashed into the left rear of a Lexus SUV that was traveling in the No. 2 lane.

The crash impact then caused the Lexus driver to lose control of the vehicle. The Lexus then rolled over several times. The driver, 48-year-old Jeff Gance, was partially ejected during the crash. He died at the scene. His wife, 48-year-old Glendale Magpantay Gance, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. She died shortly afterward.

Both Children Airlifted to Hospital After Crash

Their children, 17-year-old Michael and 15-year-old Lauren, were in the backseat of the SUV during the crash. They were both airlifted to trauma centers for their injuries. Lauren was later released, but Michael remains in the hospital with two broken legs and other injuries.

The fatal I-15 rollover crash remains under investigation by the Barstow CHP. So far, police say everyone in the SUV was wearing their seatbelt, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors. The Audi driver, a 31-year-old female, and her two-year-old daughter were unharmed in the crash. It is unclear whether she will face any charges.
