Perris Man Suffers Severe Injuries from Firework Explosion

A Perris man was hospitalized after being injured by a firework last Tuesday. Firefighters responded to reports of an explosion at Copper Creek Park and found the 20-year-old man with severe injuries to his hands and abdomen.

According to police, the man lit a mortar-style firework and was injured when it exploded. He was taken to the hospital, and his current condition has not been reported. The Sheriff’s Department’s Hazardous Device Team is investigating the incident.

Fireworks are Illegal in Riverside County

It is important to note that all fireworks are illegal in Riverside County. This includes those fireworks that fall into the “safe and sane” category, such as sparklers and fountains. Those caught with illegal fireworks can be subject to fines, citation and/or arrest, and confiscation of the fireworks.

“Thousands of people are injured by fireworks each year. This Independence Day, stay safe by following the law and leaving the firework shows to the professionals,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
