A Phelan child died Sunday after she was run over by her family’s SUV. A California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer arrived at a Phelan residence in the 11900 block of Middleton Road around 2:30 p.m. The girl’s father was performing CPR on her when police arrived. They transported the girl, who was unresponsive, to Desert Regional Medical Center. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
Phelan Child Run Over by Accident
The father was apparently driving his 2004 Chevy Tahoe in his yard, pulling a trailer that three of his children were sitting in. He put the vehicle in reverse when the 5-year-old decided she wanted to get out of the trailer.
The child then fell between the SUV and the trailer. Her father did not notice what happened and continued to back up the truck, running her over. He stopped the SUV as soon as he was aware of the situation and immediately attempted CPR.
