Road Rage Incident Turns into Physical Fight on I-10

Two people were taken into custody last month after getting into a road rage fight. Police responded to an incident near the I-10 off ramp at Bob Hope Drive at 11:30 a.m. As police arrived one of the vehicles involved, a black Mercedes Benz, sped away.

CalFire officials who witnessed the incident thought it was a carjacking, but it was later discovered the incident was a road rage confrontation on I-10 that turned physical when the vehicles pulled over. Officers followed the Mercedes and stopped the driver on Varner Road east of Bob Hope Drive.

The vehicle’s three occupants were all detained. The driver, a 15-year-old boy whose identity was not released, was taken into custody for driving without a license, and may have been driving under the influence. A 22-year-old passenger, Adrian Lopez, was arrested.

“There is never a reason to get into a physical altercation over road rage. Drivers need to keep a cool head while behind the wheel no matter what,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
