A sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized Tuesday night after he was injured in a crash in Victorville. The accident occurred at the intersection of Palmdale Road and Amethyst Road around 9 a.m.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the traffic signals at the intersection were down because of a power outage. Authorities put up stop signs temporarily to direct traffic. The sheriff’s deputy was heading north on Amethyst when he passed through the intersection. A vehicle traveling west on Palmdale ran the stop sign and crashed into the deputy’s marked vehicle.
The crash caused the deputy’s vehicle to spin and crash into another stopped vehicle. The injured deputy was taken to the hospital and later released. The Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the accident.
“Thankfully it seems the deputy will be okay after this crash. Drivers need to slow down and use extra caution when traffic signals are down,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
