Child Injured in Drunk Driving Crash

Police have arrested the man responsible for a drunk driving crash that injured a child Friday. The crash occurred at the intersection of Washington Street and Calle Tampico in La Quinta around 5 p.m.

Police responded to the scene and found a pickup truck crashed into a passenger car. They arrested the truck driver, 40-year-old Jose Arismendez, for driving under the influence. He is being held at the county jail in Indio. The crash injured a child in one of the vehicles. The child’s status is unknown.

Drunk Driving Blamed for Big Rig Crash

One day earlier, police arrested a big rig driver for driving under the influence on I-10 in Chiriaco Summit. The driver, 34-year-old Gorge Rodriguez, crashed into a guardrail in the westbound lane not far from Box Canyon Road. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene around 1:25 a.m. They then arrested Rodriguez after determining he was driving under the influence.

The drunk driving crash shut down the right lane of westbound I-10. The truck apparently spilled fuel, creating a hazardous situation on the road. The lane remained closed until 3 p.m.

“Drunk driving is out of control on our roadways. It’s a miracle no one was injured in this latest big rig crash,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
