Chrysler Minivans Recalled for Rollaway Risk

Fiat Chrysler is recalling its Chrysler Pacifica minivans over a defect that could potentially cause the vehicle to roll away. The recall affects 240,242 Pacificas built between June 15, 2016, and April 6, 2018.

According to the automaker, the cover for the vehicle’s manual Park release is too easy to remove by hand. The piece should only be able to be removed with a screwdriver. This defect can increase the likelihood of the vehicle accidentally shifting from Park into Neutral and rolling away.

Dealers will Install New Cover for Manual Park Release

To solve the problem, Chrysler dealers will install a new piece of trim over the Park release, which will only be removable with a screwdriver. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall will begin August 3. If you believe your vehicle may be included in this recall, you can verify it by entering your vehicle’s VIN at the NHTSA website.

“If your vehicle is involved in a recall, be sure to have it fixed by the appropriate dealership as soon as you can to avoid any safety hazards,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
