Driver Arrested for Road Rage Assault

A driver was arrested in connection with a road rage incident in Coachella Friday. Officers responded to the scene at Avenue 50 and Tyler Street around 11:20 a.m. A crash had occurred near Vista Del Sur and Tyler Street, but the details of the crash and the ensuing road rage incident are unclear. Authorities say there was a firearm involved. The suspect, 40-year-old Pedro Rodriguez, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft and DUI.

The vehicle Rodriguez was driving when he crashed was reported stolen from Bermuda Dunes the night before. Rodriguez is being held at the Riverside County Jail in Indio. The road rage incident is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Coachella Police Department at (760) 863-8990.
