Is Drunk Driver at Fault for Fatal Crash in Palm Springs?

Police arrested a drunk driver for causing a fatal crash Tuesday morning. Authorities say 29-year-old Austin Ulshafer was driving his GMC pickup truck east on Ramon Road when he crashed into a Ford Crown Victoria driving south on Gene Autry Trail.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries. A passenger in the Ford was seriously injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. He passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center that day. The passenger was a 23-year-old male from Joshua Tree.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the fatal crash. If you have more information please call the CHP at (760) 722-8911.

In 2010, alcohol was involved in nearly 40% of of all vehicle occupant fatalities. Three people are killed every two hours in alcohol-related crashes.

“Drunk driving continues to plague the streets of Palm Springs. We’re heartbroken to hear about another fatal crash,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
