An early morning crash Tuesday injured two people and damaged a water main, cutting off water to The Riviera Palm Springs hotel. The crash occurred around 2:04 a.m. on northbound Indian Canyon Drive near Vista Chino.

When officials arrived they found a Honda Civic on the east sidewalk with two trapped occupants. Firefighters freed the occupants, who were both taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

The damage to the water main caused the Riviera Palm Springs hotel to lose its water supply. There was also water damage to the sidewalk. Northbound Indian Canyon Drive was closed for several hours. The left lane was reopened around 5 a.m., but the right lane remained closed for repairs. Police say alcohol might have been a factor in the early morning crash.

“This accident is a reminder that drinking and driving can have far-reaching consequences,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
