A Grand Terrace man was killed in a pedestrian collision on Tuesday, December 20. Police say 77-year-old James Scott was struck and killed by a white Tesla SUV at 7:10 p.m. The collision occurred near the intersection of Sunrise Way and East Camino Parocela.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the Tesla was traveling south on Sunrise Way when it struck Scott, who was crossing the street. The driver stopped when the crash occurred and is cooperating with police. A witness attempted CPR on the pedestrian, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Was Pedestrian Walking in the Crosswalk?
It is not clear whether the pedestrian was crossing the street in a designated crosswalk. Police are investigating the pedestrian collision. Officers closed Sunrise Way in both directions from East Ramon Road to East Sunny Dunes Road until 2 a.m. Wednesday.
“Our prayers are with the victim’s family. We remind pedestrians to be cautious when crossing the street, especially after dark. Drivers should also be keeping an eye out for pedestrians,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
