Is Your Vehicle Part of New Toyota Recall?
Is Your Vehicle Part of New Toyota Recall?

More than 300,000 vehicles are involved in a new Toyota recall. The recall is due to a suspension issue on 2006-2011 model Toyota Rav4 SUVs and 2010 Lexus HS250h sedans. The vehicles were initially recalled in 2013, but Toyota will now be replacing both rear suspension arm assemblies. Dealers will then apply an epoxy to prevent the arms from moving.

The suspension issue in these vehicles has been tied to nine crashes and three injuries as of September 2012, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The suspension issue can cause the driver to lose control. This is actually the third time Toyota has recalled these vehicles for the same issue, as previous repairs did not eliminate the problem.

The new Toyota recall has not yet taken effect. The company will alert owners to schedule an appointment at their dealer for the fix.

It’s important to stay on top of manufacturer recalls and make sure to get the repairs done as soon as possible if you have an affected vehicle. Other car companies that have announced recalls in the past year include:

Acura: Acura recalled 19,500 vehicles in the U.S. and 48,000 worldwide, mainly 2014 and 2015 MDX SUVs and RLX sedans, for braking when they shouldn’t. The problem lies within the software of Acura’s “Collision Mitigation Braking System.” Sometimes when the vehicle is traveling near a metal guard rail or fence, the vehicle incorrectly assumes there is an obstacle ahead and turns on the automatic braking system. Drivers of the recalled Acuras will get their system software updated at no cost.

Honda: Honda recalled more than 145,000 motorcycles in the US because of dragging rear brakes that can cause a fire or crash. Motorcycles covered by the recall include the GL 1800 models from the years 2001-2010 and 2012-2015, the GL 1800A from 2001-2005, and the GL 1800B from 2013-2015. Honda had reports of eight small fires last year due to the faulty brakes. Dealers will replace the two brake master cylinders to ensure the safety of the motorcycles.

Jeep Cherokee: Fiat Chrysler recalled nearly 56,000 2015 and 2016 Jeep Cherokees due to a water leak that can cause an electrical short in the vehicle’s power tailgate. The leak allows water to get into the tailgate control module, which increases the risk of fire. Drivers of recalled vehicles are entitled to an inspection for any damage and replacement parts as needed, as well as installation of a moisture shield that will offer better protection against water.

“We hope the latest recall will finally fix the problem for these drivers and ensure their safety while behind the wheel,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
