Is Lefthand Turn to Blame for Two-Vehicle Crash in Adelanto?

A two-vehicle crash in Adelanto Thursday evening closed down Palmdale Road for about an hour. Police say a Ford Fusion was heading south on Bellflower Street when the driver attempted to turn left onto Palmdale Road and was struck by a westbound Honda Accord.

Authorities responded to the scene just after 5:30 p.m. One person involved in the two-vehicle crash was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. No one else was reportedly hurt. Deputies shut down Palmdale Road for about an hour while the scene was cleared.

Poorly timed lefthand turns are frequent causes of crashes, especially at intersections where there is no left turn arrow. If drivers fail to properly time their turn, they risk a collision with an oncoming vehicle. For tips on making smart lefthand turns, take a look at our checklist.

“We’re glad this crash didn’t result in serious injuries. When in doubt, drivers should always wait until they are positive the road is clear before making a lefthand turn,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
