Mazda Recalls Vehicles for Takata Passenger Airbags
Mazda Recalls Vehicles for Takata Passenger Airbags

In January, Mazda recalled more than 70,000 vehicles for defective passenger airbag inflators. The recall is just another of the many recalls related to defective Takata airbag inflators. In the even of a crash, the inflators could explode, sending shrapnel out at the driver or other vehicle occupants.

The vehicles affected by the recall include:

  • Select model year 2013 Mazda6 and CX-9 vehicles
  • Selected model year 2010 Mazda, CX-7 and C-9 vehicles
  • Select model year 2009 Mazda6, CX-7 and CX-9 vehicles

Vehicles affected are based on the zone where they were sold or registered, so owners should wait to be notified by the automaker. The recall will begin on March 9. Owners with questions about the recall can contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500.

“The recall rates for defective Takata airbags have have not been good, with only half of recalled vehicles being repaired. If you receive a notice about your vehicle being recalled, be sure to respond promptly for your own safety,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
