Microwave Recall Keeps Consumers On Their Toes
Microwave Recall Keeps Consumers On Their Toes

If you are currently an owner of a Kenmore microwave, you may think twice before heating up your next plate of leftovers. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the “Elite” series of Kenmore Microwave Ovens were formally recalled on November 14.

The particular issue cited by the US CPSC is a serious “burn hazard”. Experts studying the microwaves have discovered that a series of wiring issues can cause the external shell of the microwave to reach temperatures of over 183 degrees. This, of course, could cause serious burns for users who may be unaware of the temperature increase and touch the microwave.

Kenmore Microwaves Defective Product Injuries

The Kenmore Elite Series Microwave Oven was sold by Sears Hometown and Outlet stores for a period of 14 months, beginning in May 2017. Experts from the Commission have narrowed the recall to Elite-series microwaves whose serial number begins with the six digits “170427”.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has stated that users who may own one of these microwaves should immediately stop all use and contact Sears. Sears is legally obligated to provide a free in-home repair of the microwave, which means that current owners will not be obligated to make any financial investment as part of the recall.
