Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Oro Grande

A pedestrian was fatally struck on a highway in Oro Grande Tuesday night. The crash happened on southbound National Trails Highway south of Robinson Ranch Road. According to the Victorville California Highway Patrol (CHP), a red Fiat traveling south on the highway struck and killed 34-year-old Alejandro Barajas.

Officers responded to the scene some time before 10 p.m. Shortly after, officers pronounced the pedestrian dead. The driver who fatally struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police do not believe she was under the influence. She suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Was the Pedestrian Fatally Struck Under the Influence?

Before the crash, witnesses saw the pedestrian walking in the area and carrying a small garden light and trash can. Witnesses also say Barajas was staggering. However, police have not officially said whether he was under the influence when the crash occurred. The Victorville CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal accident.

“While driving under the influence is obviously dangerous, walking while under the influence can also put lives in danger,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
