Police Arrest Drugged Hit-and-Run Driver in La Quinta

Police caught a drugged hit-and-run driver who struck a pedestrian in La Quinta Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 111 west of Adams Street. According to the investigation, the driver of a Toyota pickup truck struck a 55-year-old male pedestrian. The driver then fled the scene.

The pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police later located the driver, 28-year-old Eduardo Antonio Airada Bernal, of Palm Desert. They arrested the drugged hit-and-run driver for felony driving under the influence of drugs causing injury and felony hit-and-run. It is unclear what drugs were in Bernal’s system when he caused the accident.

Officials continue to investigate the pedestrian hit-and-run. Anyone with information is urged to contact La Quinta Police at (760) 863-8990.

“Our thoughts are with the victim of this hit-and-run. We’re glad La Quinta police officers were able to catch this dangerous driver before he could harm anyone else,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
