Police Seeking Driver who Fled the Scene of Fatal Crash

Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene of a fatal rollover crash in La Quinta Monday. A Ford Explorer traveling west on Highway 111 crashed into the median, then flipped over. According to officers, the vehicle’s male driver then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Police say he headed north from the scene of the crash.

A woman riding in the passenger seat of the vehicle died at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity. The crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. near Dune Palms Road.

Police shut down a block of westbound Highway 111 between Dune Palms Road and Adams Street for several hours to investigate. Police also brought in a bloodhound to search for the driver who fled the scene.

“Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones. If you have information on this driver, please help the police locate him. He must be held responsible for causing this fatal crash,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
