Porsche Driver Faces Murder Charges For Infant’s Death

A Thermal man faces murder charges for the death of his infant daughter in a crash on Highway 74. Marcus Green, 51, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child endangerment and vehicular manslaughter, both felony charges. The next day, the manslaughter charge was increased to murder based on the evidence that Green understood the dangers of his actions and went ahead anyway.

If convicted, Green could face life in prison. In addition to murder charges, he is up against domestic violence-related charges. The baby’s mother, Kristen Lauer, was a passenger in the vehicle during the crash but she has not been charged. The 22-year-old was hospitalized after the crash for a severe back injury.

CHP officers believe the infant, 5-month-old Armani Green, was not properly restrained in the two-seater Porsche when the crash occurred. The child was thrown from the car when it crashed through a barrier on Highway 74 and fell down a cliff.

The crash is still being investigated, but officials say speed was a factor and they do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved.

“The driver made a conscious decision to drive recklessly, and that decision cost him his child’s life,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
