Reckless Driver Causes Multiple Hit-and-Runs

A reckless driver is behind bars after he caused multiple hit-and-run crashes in Hesperia Saturday night. According to Sheriff’s officials, 23-year-old Jesus Cervantes Zarco caused the first crash on I-15 sometime before 10:30 p.m. He then fled the scene and exited at Main Street.

Police received calls about another crash around 10:30 p.m at Main Street and Mariposa Road. Zarco allegedly fled the scene and continued driving recklessly, crashing into multiple vehicles. He also crashed head-on into a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Witnesses Held Reckless Driver Until Police Arrived

A witness says he and other witnesses stopped the driver. They pulled the keys from the ignition and tackled the driver as he tried to flee. The witnesses then held Zarco until police arrived. Police arrested Zarco and two passengers around 11:35 p.m.

Zarco has been charged with driving under the influence causing bodily injury and hit-and-run resulting in death or injury. He is being held at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto. His two passengers were also arrested for outstanding warrants.

“This kind of reckless, drunken driving has no place on our roadways. Thank you to the citizens and officers who apprehended the driver,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
