One person was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Victorville last week. Police say a 24-year-old Hesperia man was riding his motorcycle when he ran into a ditch of Mojave Road and Amethyst Road. The crash sent the motorcyclist flying about 30 feet from the ditch.

Deputies responded to the scene at 3:13 p.m. The motorcyclist was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for his injuries. His current condition is unknown. The reason for the crash is not clear, but there did not seem to be any other vehicles involved.

The best way for motorcyclists to protect themselves in a crash is to wear proper gear—particularly helmets. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), helmets saved 1,630 motorcyclists’ lives in 2013. If all motorcyclists involved in crashes had worn helmets, another 715 lives could have been spared.

“We’re wishing the victim a speedy recovery. You never know when an accident might happen, so motorcyclists should always be geared up for the unexpected,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
