7-Year-Old Killed in Deadly Freeway Crash

A 7-year-old girl was killed in a deadly freeway crash Saturday afternoon. Rose Robinson was riding in a 2003 Ford Focus heading west on I-210 east of Milliken Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga when the vehicle crashed into a westbound Toyota Camry, then hit the north freeway wall.

Robinson was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. She died of her injuries at 2:01 p.m. No one else was reported injured in the deadly freeway crash, but the circumstances of the incident are still being investigated.

It is unclear whether Robinson was properly secured in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle when the crash occurred. Although vehicle fatalities for children under 13 have declined since 1975, motor vehicle crashes still account for 1 of every 4 unintentional injury deaths. Research shows that restraining children ages 4 to 8 in the back seat instead of the front seat reduces the risk of fatal injury by half. According to the CDC, using a booster seat to restrain children ages 4 to 8, as opposed to using a seat belt alone, reduces the risk of serious injury by 45%.

“Even if you think your child is old enough to get themselves buckled up in the car, it’s important to always double-check that they’re secure. Our thoughts are with the family who has suffered this devastating loss,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
