Beef Recall Hits California

A major food recall has impacted almost 100,000 pounds of imported beef. According to a recent report from the Food Safety Inspection Service, a major shipment of beef arriving from China was discovered to have been imported without the proper inspection. Due to this serious violation of protocol, the FSIC has order the domestic company importing the beef – GLG Trading of California – to recall the product.

The FSIC has discovered that the beef in question had been shipped to retail establishments and restaurants in four states, including California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and New York. In situations such as these, it is essential for businesses to react swiftly and strongly in order to ensure that individuals are not negatively impacted by the food product in question. In serious cases, products which had not been inspected could be contaminated to the point that they cause death. Fortunately, there have been no injuries or illness so far from this particular recall.
