Two people were injured in a head-on collision near Cabazon Wednesday morning. The two-car crash happened on eastbound I-10 close to the Cabazon mall around 9:30 a.m. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of the vehicles drifted into the shoulder, then over-corrected and collided head-on with an oncoming car.
One of the drivers sustained major injuries requiring CPR, while the other suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The CHP is still investigating the head-on collision, and they have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as potential factors. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), alcohol and drugs are a factor in about 16% of all motor vehicle crashes.
“These head-on crashes are so dangerous and oftentimes deadly. Motorists need to remember that driving is a serious responsibility and mistakes can be fatal,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
