Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Apple Valley Kills Hesperia Woman

A fatal pedestrian crash in Apple Valley took the life of a 58-year-old woman from Hesperia Saturday night. Police say Anne Marie Clemenson-Wolf pulled over to the right shoulder on Kiowa Road just south of Del Oro Road around 8:30 p.m. She then got out of the vehicle and into the southbound lane, where she was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The driver of the Jeep, 21-year-old Cody Reed, stopped and called the police right away. Clemenson-Wolf died at the scene from her injuries.

The fatal pedestrian crash is under investigation and it is still unclear why the victim parked her car and walked out onto the road.

When you’re driving, especially at night, it’s crucial to pay close attention to ensure the safety of any pedestrians that might be out walking.

Read our tips for safe driving to ensure pedestrian safety here.

If you do hit a pedestrian, here are 6 things you need to do:

  1. Stop your vehicle immediately. Find a safe place to pull over and stop your car. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime.

  2. Put on your emergency lights and get out of the car. Once it’s safe to do so, go assess the situation and see if the pedestrian needs help.

  3. Call the police right away. Even if the pedestrian says he/she is fine, you still need to call the police and wait for them to arrive. Don’t leave until the police say it is fine to do so.

  4. Take pictures. Photographs of the accident scene and any injuries will be helpful for the police and for insurance purposes.

  5. Exchange information. Get the name and contact information of everyone involved in the accident and any witnesses.

  6. Report the accident to your auto insurance company.
