A motorcyclist lost his life Sunday after he crashed in the Mojave River Wash. Police say 52-year-old Jim Johnson of Hesperia was killed in the accident. A motorist encountered the crash scene around 6:20 a.m. Sunday and reported it. Officials arrived and pronounced Johnson dead at the scene.
According to the initial investigation, the motorcyclist was traveling east on Rock Springs Road when he lost control and crossed over the road. The motorcycle went over the shoulder and into the wash, and Johnson was thrown from the bike.
Another Motorcyclist Killed in Yucca Valley
Another fatal motorcycle crash occurred in Yucca Valley Wednesday. The accident happened on State Route 247 around 6 p.m. Police say 25-year-old Bryce Sterling was riding his motorcycle in the northbound lane, traveling around 80-100 mph.
The motorcyclist then attempted to pass a driver who was slowing to make a lefthand turn. Instead, the motorcycle broadsided the Nissan Altima. Sterling was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries. He was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center. He later passed away from his injuries.
