In what is certain to be good news for residents of Palm Springs, a growing number of COVID-19 antibody tests are beginning to appear across the community. The appearance of these testing sites is largely due to the hard work of the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, who are on track to install these testing resources at 10 different locations across the Coachella Valley.
Learning More About the COVID-19 Antibody Test
The antibody tests being used at these sites can provide individuals with results in just 10 minutes and only require a small blood sample. Specifically, the test checks for the presence of an “immunoglobulin G”, which is developed by the body as a result of exposure to coronavirus. Once someone has been exposed to the virus, it typically takes up to 18 days for these antibodies to appear.
If you would like to learn more information about these new testing sites, please visit the District’s Coachella Valley Resource Center web platform found here.
More information and developments on coronavirus will be published to our blog as it appears!
