Overturned Big Rig Creates Traffic Chaos

An overturned big rig created a seemingly chaotic traffic situations on Wednesday morning in Palm Desert. According to local authorities, a large truck hauling hay overturned on Interstate 10 in the area between Cook Street and Jefferson Street in Indio.The wreck was first reported at 4:16 AM.  Although authorities were quick to arrive on the scene, westbound freeway traffic experienced significant delays during the morning hours.

In situations such as this, the mass of the vehicle involved can lead to serious, sometimes fatal injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the truck appeared unharmed after the accident and was able to walk away from the vehicle on his own. Before the highway was reopened to traffic, both the vehicle involved and the large bales of hay it was hauling had to be removed from the road.
