Power Pole Crash Shuts Down Roadway in Hesperia on Labor Day

A stretch of Main Street in Hesperia was shut down on Labor Day after a vehicle rolled over and struck a power pole. The rollover accident occurred on the 17000 block of Main Street near Sultana Street around 1:15 p.m.

Police say a Kia SUV was heading east on Main Street when another vehicle made a left turn directly in its path. The Kia driver swerved to get out of the way, and the vehicle rolled over multiple times. The Kia struck a power pole, causing it to shear completely at the base.

Police shut down Main Street from Timberlane Avenue to Camphor Avenue for several hours. Southern California Edison was also called to repair the damaged power pole. It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the rollover crash.

The intersection where the crash occurred has a speed limit of 45 mph. However, the intersection does not have a traffic light or crosswalk.

“These intersections that don’t have traffic signals are the ones where drivers need to exhibit the most caution. If you have to make a lefthand turn, always wait until you have enough room to safely do so,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
