Two women were injured in a two-car crash early Thursday morning in Victorville. A Kia Spectra and Toyota Yaris collided at the intersection of El Evado Road and Palmdale Road at 12:30 a.m. The collision sent the Yaris onto the east side of the road and crashing into a sign at the Circle K.
Two people involved in the crash were hospitalized for unspecified injuries. Eastbound Palmdale Road was temporarily closed while the accident was cleared. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. The Yaris was seriously damaged in the crash.
Intersections are frequent sites of vehicle crashes. According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Survey (NMVCCS), 36% of crashes are intersection-related. The most common reason for these crashes was inadequate surveillance. False assumption of another driver’s actions was the second most frequent cause.
“Judging from pictures of the vehicles involved, the occupants are lucky to be alive. We are praying for speedy recoveries for those who were injured,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
