Father Saves Toddler from Near-Drowning in Apple Valley

A toddler survived a near-drowning in Apple Valley Wednesday morning. Emergency personnel responded to the scene on the 13200 block of Yakima Road around 9 a.m. According to authorities, the 2-year-old boy had fallen into the shallow end of the pool at his home while his father was doing yard work. The father jumped in and rescued the child and called 911.

When Apple Valley Fire Protection District arrived, the boy was responsive and breathing. As a precaution, the boy was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment.

Unfortunately, near-drowning incidents are fairly common in the summer months in Victor Valley. Drowning is usually a silent event and it can happen in a matter of seconds, which is why the best way to prevent it is to keep eyes on your children at all times when they are in or near water. “Drowning takes the lives of far too many children each year. We’re so glad to hear this little boy is going to be okay,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
