A pedestrian was airlifted after being seriously injured in Hesperia Monday evening. The pedestrian accident occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Third Avenue around 6:20 p.m.
Pedestrian was not Using Crosswalk
According to police, the pedestrian, identified as Wayne Porter, was struck by a vehicle while crossing Main Street. Witnesses say he was walking outside of the marked crosswalk. A Chevrolet sedan traveling west on Main Street collided with 58-year-old Porter.
When emergency responders arrived, they found in the westbound lanes of Main Street. He was airlifted from the scene and is receiving treatment for major injuries at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Police say the driver was not injured in the accident and is cooperating with the investigation. Anyone with information about the accident can contact the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760) 947-1500.
