Tesla Motors has announced it will release a software upgrade to improve its self-driving system. The upgrade has begun to roll out for the Tesla Model S and Model X cars. The new improvements will increase the use of radar to better navigate around things happening on the road. Instead of working solely on the highway, the automated steering system now works on interchanges as well.
The upgrade is free to owners and is available as an over-the-air software upgrade. The improvements to the self-driving system will hopefully help prevent crashes, like the one that killed a Model S driver in Florida back in May.
Tesla has also announced it plans to reveal a new vehicle rooftop next month that utilizes solar power. The company is also introducing a feature that will prevent the vehicle’s interior from becoming overheated even when the car is off.
“We hope these improvements will help make the self-driving technology safer for drivers,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
